Mem is the 13th letter of the Hebrew alphabet.

Mem מ at the beginning or middle of a word entity is shaped like a hook on a hinge.

According to Rav Berg, in “Hebrew Letters of Light” (may he RIP), “Mem מ is mute like water, and it makes manifest”.

You could consider Mem מ to be your hormonal body. To respond we need our throat (Beth ב/Beis) and our breath (Aleph א)- as well as Shin’s ש hiss and shhh, to get fired up.

Mem מ is the “intelligence” of soma pricked into utterance.

Mem מ as a Hebrew letter, is made from Vav/Vau ן and Kaph כ together- so is our student self combined with opportunities’ teachers. Or if reading from right to left, vice-versa. Our Mem מ of self – forms the vibration of Zeir Anpin’s vessel – which can always grow and shift!

Looked at from a distance, Mem מ looks like cursive capital “G”- which is interesting, because Mem מ gets plucked when others are around- and when you’re mature enough to read cursive.

(When you assign a letter to each of the twelve astrology houses,“M”, for Mem מ, falls in our first house of self and personality. “G” falls in the seventh house of “other” – not family (3rd), lovers (5th), doctors/teachers (6th), or aquaintances (11th); the seventh house is our projection).

Seventh house, is the house of ‘frenemies’ of our close partners, known enemies, and spouses- those to whom we must learn to speak clearly in order to co-create.

[ Seven as a number has both 4 and 3 (or 2 and 5). With 4 is fundamental foundation and 3 is spirit dancing on top of it. 2 and 5 is joined duality working through change. Add 1 to four, what seems perfect already, and you break apart the form and create instability. This is always necessary before you can go further in your mastery.]

**
Mem מ at the end of a word – changes shape- as do Kaph, Nun, Ayin, Tzadi. These latter letters elongate and add their unique emphasis to the word.

[ These letters along with Yod ‘, Lamed ל, Samech ס, and Ayin ע, describe components of Adam Kadmon’s entity.

They share in Tipheret’s (heart and beauty) energy. In addition, Kaph is palm and wheel of life which, in accordance to need and season, turns with each opportunity. Nun is the entity of being and non-being the fractals that make up our entity of self – and get added to or released as we heal to become our authentic creator being. Tzadi is ‘hook’ and (either=both) our star self and self-contained emperor. Peh is mouth and source of Netzach and Hod’s expressed refined emotion. Yod, is the entire hand of G-d made Adam Kadmon. Like Chockmah, the “hand” contains our solar system with each finger (and similarly is ruled by distant galaxies – our brain). Lamed is our inner, sometimes outer, judge – necessary for our perfection and excellence. Samech is the patient (alchemical) integrity of being force and form wed together, complete. Ayin is our heart’s attachements, with and without which we (quickly) transition to higher and lower energy forms.]

All form parts of our Zeir Anpin merkaba vessel.

Instead of elongating though as they do, Mem מ closes up to form a box ם.

Then it ~looks like capital D and has a harp-shape, which is also appropriate.

When our supernal self is activated – it is via Dalet ד. Then you speak to ‘take for yourself’. (Even if you’re speaking on another’s behalf, it’s motivated from your bottom line- money and safety, and to get ‘more of what you want’-whatever that is, usually love and appreciation.)

And the harp is accurate too – once spoken, words echo – within heart’s inner echo chamber. And, unlike a tape recording, words aren’t erasable once articulated.

But while Mem’s closed shape ם echoes Samech’s ס, Mem מ doesn’t have patience.

Mem מ creates magic (or mischief) with the choice of words falling on tender ears- especially when they’re dear, but destructive when painful or judging. Then soma body shuts down – goes into hibernation – or a death spiral, take your pick. Either way, there’s a wound to lick.
**

Mem’s מ path, is on the pillar of form, linking Gebvurah (severity) with Hod (Mercurial water). A form chosen from an abstraction- not yet words.

From specific potential fields of consonants, colors, and music linked in easy and harsh ways, like DNA, Mem’s מ field has pre-connected phonemes waiting to be activated and promoted.

Words describe both concrete and abstract waveforms- so are biased, limiting, and restrictive- in order to communicate experiences with others. Words are a version of Tzimtzum ‘final restriction’.

Mem מ is also water connecting all together- as we resonate our emotional chakras. Soma reacts when that part of our receptive intelligence – our waiting and listening self, gets plucked.

Our (sub-)consciousness of vibration-sensing being, is perched and waiting to put out to spell in one’s world – use words to create with. Otherwise why have language beyond clicks?

Self seeks an opportunity to spell; when its collective’s ears are open.
**

Traditionally, open Mem מ represents the written word of Torah – that can be known by any and all who learn Hebrew well enough to understand its translations. Which, written by men with mothers, always introduce biases. Open Mem מ and the Torah is not considered “mystery”.

The closed Mem ם stands for the secret teachings that only rabbis and high-end scholars are privy too – so not to the women or necessarily those who go to Yeshiva.

This creates a situation of have and have-nots within the Jewish community – fracturing their diaspora and weakening them. If everyone knew how powerful the mysteries are, folks would lead better lives – not just do maintenance and chores, but engage with each other more meaningfully.

As a “gentile”, I’ve never been exposed to either of them. For the likes of me, Torah may as well be a secret- I’ve no formal exposure to any of its teachings although I’ve read most of the Pentateuch which is said to reflect or be the same. (I’ll let all of you Bible and Torah scholars argue that one for me). (I can’t speak for any of the Koran’s teachings.)

Christians I know, refer almost exclusively to the New Testament and especially Revelations (the Americans I know are focused on death and gloom – so different versions of poison to spirit).

So they, have little knowledge of Torah’s precepts let alone that their missing their mysteries. (No wonder we’re all so ignorant of each other, we have little awareness of each other’s values and underpinnings!)
**

In my visions:

Mem מ has morphogenic energy of a den of snakes-all with different color bands and combinations- consonants waiting to link up together in ways especially pleasing to the ear using vowels.

So far we’ve been trained to use words more as weapons. Perhaps it was the mellifluous qualities of French that made it be the diplomat’s language? By starting out sounding pleasant, adversaries were softened?)
Living in Germany- where they speak in all caps, and enunciate everything even silent e, which to me suggests the changeablity of the previous word, romance and relaxation is eschewed. The sound of a language tell you a lot about how a culture communicates!
**

Mem מ is our vibration. Driven by hormones, different chakras are activated depending on what’s happening- other than the heart chakra which is always on- and waiting for it’s Chi center, the Corpus Christae, to become unglued from balanced unity. Then Mem מ unbinds itself to make an utterance.

Waiting for heart song – which it hears from time to time (thank G-d!!!), might elicit an involuntary coo, for example.

Before Mem מ wakes up, to have Zayin ז creator god self choose and release a name, person, place or thing – or a verb, etc, using Peh’s פ oral trumpet, one hopes we’re in a state of clear headed cooperation.

Each utterance belies our ‘quintessential structure of being’ in any given singularity -any situation that calls our speech into existence.

Until we learn to script it- this is called “maturity”.

Then by mirroring and honing from our collective- so as to maximize getting our desires fulfilled, with as little effort necessary we perfect our calls and responses- from what has transpired before and been previously successful.

**

To continue our ongoing interaction, Mem מ organizes to the occasion, then he hops down from perch, speaking fateful words- unless you’re talking to yourself which seems more common these days (though they might look like they’re on a cell phone).

Whether collecting oneself to respond while another is speaking, or in a flash – depends on your inner conductivity- whether you’re rested or wired (and everything in between).

Our soma must be open and willing to engage electromagnetically with another being’s chakras. This is the essence of Vav/Vau’s ו success!

Mem מ is informed by our Vagus nerve as it winds its way down and through the body and organs – sending back status symbols to reptilian brain center, as well as pelvic nerves. Mem also draws on whatever’s in our crown center – once we’ve turned it on and tuned into ourselves. As Mem מ ‘listens’ like everything else, Mem מ is affected by planetary influences.

As the brain is bicameral, Mem מ has two sides – a left and right. How they each receive neurotransmitters, depends on the milieu- and can be tensed or relaxed by ongoing hormonal outpouring. It ‘reads’ and ‘notes’ – while organizing reactively.

The kabbalistic path of Mem מ is placed to the left on a Kabbalistic tree of life – so on the pillar of form. It nature is receptive. Initially it is ‘baby soft’ but ‘hardens’ with practice and insults. Cadence, word length, alliterations all corresponding to mom’s emotional hormonal conditions are already ingrained before birth.

Mem מ is one of five paths that form the Sephirah of Hod. Along with Ayin ע (eye=want/not want), Peh פ (mouth), Resh ר (flow), Shin ש (viatality and inner fire).

Each of these emanate to power in accordance with one’s vessel. Hod is a direct reflection of forces in summation- some filtered through the heart, but not all. Hod is the Sephirah of versicles, mantra, short sequences of colors, words, sounds, that we use to articulate or paint with.

(Speaking sweetly opens up hormonal avenues of oxytocin- and is very good medicine for the heart! Saying “Mem” מ aloud, can resonate to your pelvis. Is a very good exercise – to keep soma in as clean alignment as possible with your collective and inner G-d. Try a sweet Mem מ today!
Singing Mem מ along with your soul song of personal vowels, followed by your grounding and percussive consonants of full name- is empowering and invigorating.
Draw it out – say it slowly and you’ll feel its tingle!)
