Zayin, ז, is the seventh letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Zayin ז looks like Vau ו with backwards baseball cap – so has some sass. In Hebrew, Zayin ז means weapon and “I” as individual.
.
Zayin’s ז shape is reminiscent of a sword capped by hilt, with ‘blade’ tipped to the ground. Or perhaps you see a walking stick. It all depends on your perspective.
.
Zayin ז is our creator self in duality. We use Zayin to create from our world(s) of potential to execute our will and get what we want.
.
Zayin ז, is also my prop – I might use as a cane or walking stick. Some days it’s a pen held finely by three fingers expressing on page. Sometimes it’s my whole ten fingers dancing on keyboard. Or perhaps I’ll use Zayin ז as a gentle support- even if I’m faking or “tired”. Or pointer. Maybe someday it’ll feel more like envelope opener.
.
Often using my prop or tool to create, I might need to hold it with two hands. Then uniting both my left and right side. Then has the same effect as doing nadi shodanan for becoming centered.
.
Only when fully engaged with either my friend or opponent- that person place or thing directly across from me, can I safely wield my ‘weapon’ Zayin ז- and then after I’ve made a decision to.
.
With Zayin ז we act on decisions, after making judgments. So it’s a good idea to first obtain evidence so you are thorough in your decision-making.
When we use Zayin, our actions are observable and can be witnessed. This is implied by Ayin’s (means “eye” in Hebrew) inclusion.
We have no control of another’s perceptions- nor what they do with them.
.
With Zayin honed by my teachers’ trainings, I learn to slice, parse, lop, or stab to select, cut off, and release that which no longer serves me – my mission and path; I use my voice and speak hoping to change an outcome. I am not just sitting mute.
.
Using Zayin I can hone raw material into something usable and durable.
*
Zayin is willed by the heart, governed by brain, and might be expressed with hands or mouth (or any other body part).
Holding Zayin, one hand is dominant, the other might support. Being outgoing and dominant is Yang; supportive Yin holds and stabilizes. Clearly you need both to be most effective. As anyone who has broken an arm, how important both are.
.
Sometimes my Zayin ז feels heavy like scimitar- then my mouth and words get me in “trouble”.
.
In Assiah’s world of plans put into action, rearranging the Ashim, we do as we are modeled with tools we are given. What we create is our Malkuthian (tangible and measurable) density.
*
Zayin ז however is not Gandalf’s staff -nor of Chokmah’s wisdom.
*
We-a-pon- as a word broken down could look like phonetically like “we pon”, the “A” makes the “E” expand a bit otherwise it isn’t articulated.
Subconsciously sounding like “we bridge” (pon means bridge in Latin). This is true for either friend or foe. With the silent a- before “pon”, we might act to lop ourselves away from our bridges of connection.
As each of us have Zayin, differences between you and me define our individuality and need be shared for each of us to grow. This takes courage and might feel arduous.
*
Or another way to think of Zayin ז is as a “We app (on)”. When our we-ap(p) is on, we will to work together.
.
We use Zayin to create L’ove- that which we want/not want more of to bring our will to life. We share our uniqueness to support our thriving collective -our Shin ש of being.
*
As our use of tools is guided by our chest, heart, and hands, as well as brain, using Zayin is activating.
.
When you use your props constructively, you get a little rush of dopamine (along with adrenaline if you’re scared at the same time). Using Zayin masterfully, you might feel elated – like a conductor who finishes his symphony to thunderous applause.
.
This isn’t sweet oxytocin – which reengages our healing self. With Zayin in action, sweetness comes later- if at all.
.
(Secretion of dopamine directly shuts down oxytocin release from hypothalamus. As dopamine is tonically secreted by the hypothalamus, suppressed oxytocin is our “resting state”.
(Being sweet might mean being nonreactive externally – which wouldn’t be the greatest as we’re always f’earing nature.)
.
Systemic dopamine gives a sense of glee – which makes one feel alive in an unfocused way- as if covered with activated antennae. When dopamine is stimulated, you don’t feel calm or centered – more out of your skin.)
.
With Zayin ז we get to “do as thy will” (AKA, Golden Rule #1,“do what(ever) you want) to make a thing tangible-whether committed (using Cheth ח) -or not. With Zayin ז we put our plan into action.
*
And yet, as our teachers have taught us over and again, it is most helpful to use Zayin ז with discipline- following Gebvurah’s forms (and rules). Our efforts are most rewarded when we use our props coolly and effortlessly. THis takes practice and is the sign of master.
.
While appearing/ seeming to be obedient like Vau, you’re really being more patient like boa snake or spider- letting your ‘victims’ tire themselves out first before stepping in to deliver death’s final blow – completing a particularly thorny aspect of your creation. (Those aspects are too, what you’ll especially get paid to do…)
.
Sometimes we need to switch tools for this reason – need to be proficient in more than one- and know when to use them.
Rather than being hot headed and seizing any old (Heh’s ה) opportunity that comes along recklessly plunging in when Hod’s timing isn’t quite right- before there’s success, we must get all the steps right. (AS I KNOW and still am learning!)
*
With Zayin we traverse our Holy spirals- making us either lighter or denser. As we create beauty with our skillful hands and breath, we hone to our soul’s destiny’s path. With Zayin ז , we initiate and generate interactions.
.
At first this path may seem covered with karmic goo, attachments and beliefs[4] others have instilled in us. With practiced proficiency, we get to release other’s projected insecurities of what we can and can’t do.
.
Ultimately we are each responsible for our own destiny no matter what another might say- even those you thought were very wise. With maturity you will surpass your teachers – if they’re willing to step out of your way. Please know, some are very insecure!
*
And you know the adage, “united we stand divided we fall”?
While standing tall, we aren’t fatigued (or at least don’t appear so). Believing in yourself, which you will when you are well trained, you can stand longer- hence be more productive. Standing tall we can access our creator king-self much more easily than otherwise. That goes for all of us! At least keep your spine straight when you’re focusing on the opponent in front of you- even if it’s apiece of paper!
.
Any process leading to unity and commerce, or supporting those possibilities- benefits yours, ours, and my collective-so ultimately all of us- in a tangible and material way.
*
Using Zayin ז, our will must be focused to be effective.
Using Cheth ח, body and soul chariot uniting Love and Will under G-d’s Laws, might pitch a little asymmetrically as we cleave to (or from). Our Vau, obedience of (lunar) self in any outcome, may not seem equally empowered. Life can feel clunky during this time while we are re-integrating.
.
Cleave is an interesting word in that it means both to remove, separate and affix more firmly. With Zayin ז we do both. As we gain proficiency – we gain choices, freedoms, and responsibilities.
