Did you know, for seedless variety, plants are continuously fed aversive suppressant? However they do it to shrink the little vestigial seeds in my watermelon.
Or that, without their a continuous cocktail, cell cultures can and will and do, revert back to their wild type, or natural?! [1]

Furthermore taste and succulence are cell’s works – as in expenditure of energy. Creating those desired qualities are the end product. The finer nuances of flavor, DNA encoded, aren’t turned on until seed is ready and fertile– the plants genitive tissues. Feedback loops must be fulfilled, until the next groups awaken. And this fertility loop is not happening, when plant’s alarmin’ either!
No wonder seedless fruits look good, but are tasteless, and little like sawdust. (Good thing, I hardly eat any- I guess.)
Technically, energetically, empty ghost food is its quality.
