What’s the most annoying trope in books or movies?

i’m having a hard time enjoying many movies these days. There are many annoying tropes.

I can’t stand it when the female does stupid things that show such poor common sense like going into dangerous situations alone without a buddy. I mean duh, what is she thinking? Of course, the underlying suggestion is that she has little brains-which I find offensive.

I hate when she resources to using her sexuality as a way to get ahead, or is portrayed as lying and manipulative or while lead male actors look at her tits instead of her face when she’s speaking. And must she always wear suggestive clothes when going into any CDI crime scene?!

Plenty of men lie and manipulate on a routine basis. It’s not limited to one demographic. They just are boring to look at.

I can’t stand the violence and shocking language in men’s movies and shows such as my sons watch regaling heavy drug use and Boyz fascism.

These are extremely dystopic, demoralizing, and corrosive to any sense of hopefulness. No wonder they don’t think it matters if they victimize others and everyone is stupid.

Movies have such a limited range of ideas, vocabulary, and plot- it’s just laughable.

I can’t believe that’s really what our population is wanting. It certainly isn’t what it needs.

And always the “bad guy” is someone of color or speaks with a eastern European or Russian accent, or is Middle Eastern- which is just lame.

Plenty of “well-spoken” white guys are big time criminals today -even if they’re usually given immunity.

The trope that there’s always some super villain and some superhero that needs to come out and rescue others while bystanders stand around uselessly anxious, is hugely disempowering.

For those stuck in their seats with stimulated adrenals programmed into flight or fright mode, their cognitive disconnect is so strong, no wonder there’s so much mental illness.

i’m sure I’ll think of some more things to bitch about.

But meanwhile, I don’t watch anything other than a few Chinese dramas, which are slightly more interesting. They are not filled with violence, bad language, and gratuitous sex.

I highly recommend “Cupid‘s kitchen”. I even learned a few cooking techniques.
