How do you define success in life?

For me that would be 1) enough well off to vacation wherever I wanted and in reasonable style, 2) in a mutually rewarding and fun long term relationship, and 3) with little or no debt. All the while 4) keeping my health. You know, that’s happy wealthy and wise.

I have almost two out of four- I used to have just one. At this point in life the odds of me finding the third let alone the fourth are minuscule. Hell a woman who’s 50 can’t get a job; at my age I’m off the market for everything.

spoiler alert: For that reason I don’t consider myself successful and never have.

But then that’s my statistical probability given I have pretty high ACE score (history of adverse childhood experiences). Most of us with high scores don’t often fare well in the long run.

I had hoped my work as a doc and writing(s) would help future denizens feel more happy and successful because my life has ~sucked to tell the truth. (Today I’m in a whiny mood can’t you tell?!)

I’m still passionate about the ‘souk kingdom’ essays, but honestly that prospect of anything coming of them seems bleak if not delulu.

But all is Inshallah!
